About the Service Management API

The Service Management API expands the automated capabilities of a key set of

standard batch commands while maintaining fine grain control over organizations,

users, and domains. In addition, the Service Management commands issue

reports, perform transaction authentication, and test the connectivity between the

client application and the server.

Use the Service Management API for fine grain, administrative control over your

organizations. And use the User Sync API for optimal bulk user updates. For more

information about the User Sync API, see “About the User Sync API” on page 39.

The Service Management API uses the API infrastructure features and a set of

the batch interface commands. Accurate use and understanding of the batch

command and database field interface is critical for a successful Service

Management web service.

This chapter introduces the Service Management API. The Batch and Service

Management API Reference Guide provides detailed information for the web

service and batch command dependencies. This information describes syntax,

summaries, code snippets, cautions, and authorizations needed to manage your

organizational hierarchies.

Service Management API resources to note in The Batch and Service

Management API Reference Guide include:

• “Service Management API” chapter is gives detailed syntax, descriptions,

return values, exceptions, authorizations, input and output fields, and code

samples for each operation.

Your application can use all of the Google Web Services APIs. The Service

Management API can be in the same application with the User Sync API and the

Endpoint Resolver.
